Pre-empted Show: The Huxtables Put Their Kids Up For Adoption

In clearly the most controversial show in series' history, the gang takes a comedic look at adoption.

Adam begins to notice that Doug and Vanessa look somewhat alike, thinking they may be related as brother and sister. This scares Vanessa, while Doug seems to think it's funny and tortures her when he agrees with Adam. Vanessa gets on the phone to call her mom and ask her if she and Doug are related, then she finds out she's not related to him.

DID YOU NOTICE?

• Some of the Nickelodeon executives, including Geoffrey Darby, decided they didn't want to show Adoption at all. But there'd only be four 1987 episodes to show during the premiere, so the executives probably overruled it for that airing. Adoption was never shown again in the U.S.
• In the uncut CTV version, Lance Prevert calls a guy a "damn bureaucrat" on the phone and the word "damn" is bleeped out. Definitely a first on YCDTOTV.
