EPISODE 143 - INVENTIONS

Pre-empted Show: MacGyver Invents A Spaceship

Ross buys a new robot in an attempt to improve the quality of the cast.

Production: Reason For Inventing TV

DID YOU NOTICE?

  • Though they didn't come right out and say this was the series finale, the show being about "inventions" certainly hinted it. In the pre-empt, the announcer makes reference to bringing the audience YCDTOTV, a "show that should never have been invented."
  • In a Living Room sketch, Lance explains that he has packed Ted's bags and is throwing Ted out because he has been replaced by automation. Soon, a robot named "Darby, The Garbage Robot" walks through the door. This was a small final episode tribute (though a YCDTOTV-style tribute) to Geoffrey Darby, who churned out "garbage" as the director and co-writer of YCDTOTV for the first half of the series.
