View Full Version : Showbiz Pizza Place...

It's been on my mind for awhile, as has been YCDTOTV. Does anybody remember this place? It was similar to today's Chuck E. Cheese's. It had the Rock a Fire explosion as robots (Billy Bob, Rolfe, Mitzi....Mitzi was always my favorite!), a huge arcade, great rides, places to climb, a balloon making machine...

I spent many a birthday here, and was always treated like royalty. There was no place else I wanted to spend my birthday.

If you really want to take a trip down memory lane, watch the videos here:

This might be of some help.

YES! I remember. I was dating a girl who was babysitting for some friends. One of the kids shared a birthday with me, so the six of us went for a party. Since the music was mainly from the 60s, I enjoyed the show. The only thing that bothers me now, is that the huge gorilla in the group was named "Fats", borderline not too P.C.
If you was wondering, I just surf various parts of the 'Net, late at night, and followed the link from YCDTOTV concerning Christine McGlade. I might not be deep or intellectual, but I do enjoy friendly exchanges about common interests. Over in YAHOO, I am a member of a number of chat groups. as I am disabled, since a stroke some years ago. So I do have some time on my hands. I hope you can enjoy a friendly voice.

That brought back some amazing memories, like when I was 7 years old and I peaked behind the show curtain in between shows and saw Fatz the gorilla glowering at me in the dark. Scary Man, Scaaarreeee!!!

Used to love Showbiz in the early 80's. I used to remember getting excited about watching for our number on the TV to let us know when our pizza was ready. And then Pac-Man would show up to eat the numbers away of the pizzas that had been picked up.

After ther merger with Chuck E Cheese, though, I don't think it was ever the same. Chuck E Cheese still does pretty well here in Chicago, as we still have 18 locations in the city and outlying Chicago suburbs, but it just isn't what I remembered it to be.

If you miss the Rock-a-fire Explosion, you'll love this:

Some guy has the original set up and knows how to program them. He had tons of videos on youtube of the animals performing different songs, but I guess whoever owns the rights to the animals had youtube pull them. You'll find a few videos pop up every now and then, but they usually get pulled within a couple of weeks. So enjoy this one while you can.

Yeah, I remember this place. I have old projector footage of a birthday party here. I always remembered a stringed puppet show featuring, Tiny Tim, singing, "Tip-toe through the Tulips." His backup dancers were Tulips!
