One of my favorite comics were the New Teen Titans, I heard recently they are going to make a live action movie based on the Marv Wolfman version of the comics, as well as direct to DVD animated movie of the Judas Contract storyline.
Anyway I checked out some of those old comics, and they are awsome. There are lot of depth to these characters, not just the heros, as well as for the villain characters.
