...the best band ever.

While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Hey Jude, Across the Universe, She Came In Through the Bathroom Window, A Day in the Life, etc. are some of the best songs I've ever heard in my life.

I'm a fan of their more serious, experimental high quality stuff during their last few years together as a band before they broke up. I don't even own any of their early bubblegum "happy and cute" albums. Not my taste.

I agree completely about their later stuff...their early stuff isn't my taste, either, maybe because it was forcefed to me as a child (my mom was heavily into their early stuff because that was what was popular when she was young). I wouldn't call them the best band ever, but they're certainly one of the best.

I would say the Beatles are probably the best ever, but of course, they were in the era where TV exploded and made them huge stars.

I always prefered the Monkees over them... mainly because of the MTV and Nick airings of their shows.

To quote Dumb and Dumber, "The Monkees were a huge influence on the Beatles."
