  • Nickelodeon oral history

    Hi folks:

I've left a thread on here in the past and one of my assistants has also made reference to this, as well, as regards trying to locate Roger Price.

I'm writing the first oral history of Nickelodeon and we have signed with Penguin (which also recently released the MTV oral history). I've spoken to more than 100 principals involved with Nickelodeon and Nickelodeon shows and would love to speak with more cast members (and crew) from YCDTOT.

If you were involved in the show or know of anyone who was, please contact me at your earliest convenience so that we can set up an interview if you would like to take part in this project. I'm trying to cull my interviews before the end of June.

I am especially interested in speaking with Alasdair Gillis, Tim Douglas, and Roger Price.

I've already spoken with numerous folks from the show, including Geoffrey Darby and Christine McGlade.

I look forward to speaking with you soon, and thank you for your time!

    Best,
    Mathew Klickstein

how did you get in touch with Christine Mcglade? Her website /blog seems relatively inactive as of late but she used to respond to people on there quite often.
Also, if you haven't already done so, I'd recommend talking to Fred Seibert. He has a blog where he speaks of how his ad agencies concepts shaped the Nickelodeon brand.

I just did my interview over the weekend. It was fun. I'm looking forward to seeing how this book turns out.

I really need to preorder this. I keep putting it off. Too bad I won't be stateside until the second week in October.

They're looking to do a YCDTOTV panel at the event. I'm trying to see if I can put a trip together for it.

Well, I have to get there first. But yes, I'm hoping someone will record it.

It will be live streamed. I'm sure someone can record the live stream and share it for long term viewing.

A live stream, eh? I probably won't be able to view it. September 27 is a Friday. I'm 13 - 14 hours ahead (DST) of the east coast, meaning it'll be Saturday for me. I work Saturdays. T_T

Tim Douglas? Way cool! I know Tim was at least one of the Slimecons and I was really hoping someone would interview him eventually. He was every bit as sharp and quick-witted as Christine was in that first season. Not to mention being the first person I know of in North America to have ever been green slimed, which makes him important in Nick history even though his episodes never made it to Nickelodeon.

Okay, I got my travel arrangements worked out, so I'm on board for the party and the panel.
