Thread: Dungeon or Detention?

    Default Dungeon or Detention?

Just wondering if anyone can explain to me the difference between "the dungeon" sketches and "detention" sketches? I don't remember but I think that in the early episodes the kids got chained up in what was called "detention" in school but later it was called "the dungeon" which appeared to be located in a castle (in one episode they mention a "moat being flooded)-Were these interchangeable? Like were they supposed to be the same thing? did they use the same set? and did they always use the school principal character instead of Nasti in the Detention ones? Why did they change it from one thing to the other?

They were two different sets, with Les playing two different characters. The detention set did have chains on the walls, though, with kids in them. But they were pretty much background decoration.

But it's also worth noting that in the 1979 episodes and in WTYO, the Principal character was often seen on the dungeon set, and in some of the dungeon scenes in those two seasons, it was said that the kid was there for detention. The actual detention set (with the desks and the kid chained to the wall) were a later invention.

And sometimes, they would have fun with the way the kids were chained to the wall in detention. There was one instance where a kid was chained to the wall upside down!
