Default First signs of a Nick classic channel

Nickelodeon has something on their website now called TurboNick, in which you can watch the programming online. Within TurboNick is a section called NickRewind where you can watch the classic programming. Clarissa, Guts, Alex Mack, Pete and Pete and more are there, and it's updated weekly. I'd say this a nice middle of the road compromise for now.

Oh, and if anyone is interested, there's a new message board on my www.doubledare.tv site.

Grr... I can't get onto TurboNick - I'm running Linux, and the only Windows machine I have here is Windows ME. Looks like TN needs Windows XP

And yes, I've tried modifying my User-Agent

What are the shows on TurboNick?

A nick classic channel would be a great idea - it would be an ideal home for the great shows in Nickelodeon's past. Better than airing on Nick, for reasons of audience - those of us who watched these shows when they were new are no longer Nick's target audience; but are a prime TV demographic. The content would also be (comparativly) cheap; even with many '80s programs (and I don't think a Nick Classics channel would have a chance without YCDTOTV) for which broadcast rights would need to be renewed, it would be far cheaper than producing new content.

However, a specific block of "Nick Classic" prgramming, perhaps on "TV Land" might be almost as good an option. It might be more likely, because it would be less of a risk for Nick. I'm also not certain there would be enough programming to sustain a Nick Classics network permanantly. After all, they aren't making new episodes of these shows anymore. Following the example of other syndicated programming, the most popular shows would likely air daily. For YCDTOTV, with 133 episodes, this wouldn't be a problem; modern sitcoms thrive in syndication with less. For some other shows, however, there are probably not enough episodes to sustain this. A shorter block could have a couple of "permanent" shows, and rotate through others.

    Any thoughts?

    Please keep us updated.

The sooner we know when this channel might air (usually locating a press release from Viacom or similar entities on the 'Net would be of great help for all of us children of the 80's), the sooner we can contact our cable companies to request this channel be added to a Digital type of service.

This is a similar tactic I have used over the last several years to bring The History Channel, VH1 Classic, DIY (Do It Yourself, a subsidiary of HGTV), and in recent times, NBA TV and the NFL Network to my local hometown cable system.

I hope this dream becomes reality, especially with all 130 episodes + one Project (right Josh and David?) finding a new home for us devoted fans.

nick would get alot out of it,with fans like us,plus it would hellp sell the dvds, but let' face it:nick will screw up and put ''classics'' like catalin's way and the brother's gracia and invader zim[no,wait, that's good!]on it,or pull a toon disney on it and get rid of all the orignals except for some[expect clarissa and hey dude to stay on]and replace them with later clasics, like the new all that and romeo.
