That ep also has one of the greatest water reactions of all time, when Alasdair hears Naida say "water" and says: "You said it! Now you're going to get--" and then, as the water starts to fall on his head... "Oooohhhhh!" ... a long, drawn-out, and somehow plaintive sound of pure misery and disappointment.

Scenes like that were always funny, where one person said a trigger phrase but then the other person in the scene got the slime or water instead. You can tell the writers had some fun playing around with the slime and water rules. Even more rapid-fire is the scene in "Families" where Jeff says the "w" word and Christine gets excited, thinking he'll get drenched, but barely gets the word "You" out of her mouth before the water hits her instead of him. She then gets drenched a second time when she says the "w" word while complaining about the first drenching. The rationale is that Jeff (Ross' nephew) can't get wet or slimed or his mother will kill Ross. (And like Naida, Jeff got paid back for this at the end of the show with a green, slimy comeuppance.) Likewise Christine's double drenching in "Courage" which had a similar setup except that Kevin K. was the one who said "water" while wearing a suit of armor, and as Ross tells Moose, they can't afford to get the suit cleaned if it rusts.

I seem to recall an episode of the YouTube YCDTOTV homage "Tony & Varina TV" which played around with "opposite catchphrases" - not only would saying one of the trigger phrase led to the other person in the scene being slimed or drenched, but the catchphrases themselves were reversed - saying "I don't know" brought down water instead of slime, and vice versa. Such a clever idea it surprises me YCDTOTV itself never tried it.

    Back to the original topic...

Tim Douglas getting slimed in episode two with the "original" green slime (moldy food remnants) in episode two way back in 1979 certainly ranks high on the list, because it could have made him sick. Apparently it was Geoffrey Darby who ordered that to be done without Roger's knowledge, and Roger was furious, but the audience loved it and that's how the less noxious lime Jell-O/flour mixture came to be.

Regarding quantity more so than quality, there was also the show's making Christine a lightning rod (and Tim in the first season) for misfortune. Look at all the unfortunate things (apart from slime and water, and even WHITEWASH) that happened to her in the "Transportation" and "Safety First" episodes alone!
