Just out of curiousity, was there any kids who had gotten fired or were a problem at made it difficult to work with on the show?

I think all the kids were a pleasure to work with. The only kid I know of that was occasionally a problem was Kevin Schenk. Les told stories about how he sometimes acted like a little brat. For that scene in the WTYO pilot where Ruth drags Kevin to the audition for "the chlidrens' show," Kevin kicks Les in the shin. Les put a book in his pants to cover his leg in case Kevin kicked him too hard, and turns out it was a good thing he did.

Well, you may recall the opening Link Set sketch from "Luck," where Doug has supposedly been suspended for getting his hair cut, and then we find that he's been suspended from a rope. That's rooted in reality - in August 1986, Doug really did cut his hair, and Roger really did write him out of all the scripts, but then he changed his mind. When I showed up to visit the set, they were in the middle of writing him back in.

Doug looked better with short hair. Why would Roger write him out because of a haircut? He had a frickin mullet. Heh.

No idea if it's why Roger wrote Doug out of scripts, but I believe on some other TV shows, actors have to clear any changes in appearance with the show, even if it's something as simple as a haircut.

Then again, Roger always sounded like a character, so with him, you may never know what he was thinking.

Roger had a thing about boys with long hair. I have no idea why.

Maybe Dougie looked too clean-cut with short hair and they were looking for a rebel with a mullet.

Yeah, I wonder if Roger got mad at Christine when she cut her hair?

Also- In Kevin Kubusheskie's interview on this site, he says that he was fired for about 15 minutes because he was playing pool while everyone was waiting to do a scene, lol. Roger gave him a lecture and then "rehired" him. I thought that was funny. He sounded like a real character!
