    Default Nick Rewind channel LIVES!

I've been hearing about this for quite some time, and can now confirm it. Nick Rewind is a new "channel" on AT&T's new on-demand service called U-Verse. I hear they're showing classic Double Dare, among other things such as Clarissa and what not. The service is VERY new right now and is therefore hard to obtain. As far as I know, right now the viewer-base mostly consists of testers. Think of it back around 10 years ago when digital cable first came about and we were all trying to get GAS.

It's also sort of complicated to explain...it's internet-based, but you watch it on your TV. Essentially, it works just like cable, but the signal is brought to you by an internet cable instead of a copper coaxial cable. So, you need to have a special box connected to your TV to use it. But hey...

NICK REWIND IS ON THE AIR!

And for the skeptics, here's your proof:

    THAT IS SOOOO COOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now I'll just have to learn how to get this thing and use it. I'm stuck in the 1980s/early 90s with this regular cable (no digital or satellites ). I'm going to see what I can do!

I wonder if this is why they pulled the plug on the DVDs, if they decided this was better.

What will you need to get it?

This sort of thing is the future of television.

TV will no longer be based on time slot, but on what people want to watch whenever they want.

Live Sports/News will always be an exception, but with faster internet, better codecs and better computers...this is just the beginning.

This changes advertising as well since the exact number of viewers will be known.

Nielsons is in HUGE trouble. (unless they are part of the new order)

AWESOME! I have Comcast Digital Cable, and On Demand already has the other 3 Nick categories of teenick, nick jr, and nicktoons. Hopefully it is just a short matter of time before Nick Rewind shows up!

Has anyone been able to view Nick Rewind yet? Is the "channel" still going on?

They need to hurry up and create the channel.

I read this somewhere, and who knows if this is truth or not, but Nick Rewind is allegedly supposed to replaced Nick GAS sometime in 2008.

The bigger question is whether Nick will acknowledge that they existed in the 1980's. I would imagine the only programs they would air would be the old Nicktoons and anything that got produced at Nick Studios, which wouldn't be until 1990. Anything they leased from Canada or the UK - don't count on it!

Obviously they won't air imported shows and others they no longer have airings rights to, but they can easily play the 80s shows like Mr. Wizard's World, Eureeka's Castle, Hey Dude, Don't Just Sit There, Double Dare, Pinwheel, etc.

I would think airing YCDTOTV on *TV* shouldn't be too difficult. They have the rights to play them in the US, right? And are we sure that the royalty thing not only applies to DVD, but also airing the shows on TV? Did they have to keep paying royalties while rerunning it through 1994? YCDTOTV is one of the very few shows Nickelodeon seems to acknowledge from their past (like in the 2004 25th anniversary collage, only Pinwheel, YCDTOTV, and DD were included from years ago), so I would think they'd do all they can to play it on a possible Nick Rewind channel.
