Thread: Question about the 1981 eps

Default Question about the 1981 eps

I never got to see any of the 1981 eps when they were on this site since i had dial-up at the time. However, i did see "Drugs" when someone uploaded it onto youtube, but i noticed that only a handful of sketches dealt with the subject matter, and the rest dealt with different topics (and the opposites were also , hate to say it, generic as well). Was this typical for 81 eps (link sets deal with main topic, sketches are all over the place)?

I noticed the same thing about the 81 eps. Some of the sketches had nothing to do with the subject. Like in the Transportation episode, there's a sketch were the teacher says to Christine "Are you amusing yourself" and Christine goes ahead and amuses herself. Also in the Smoking episode, there's classroom sketch where the teacher talks about making babies and a Barth sketch that refers to barth burgers as horsemeat while not mentioning anything about the topic of the day.

Something else to take into consideration is the fact that the 1981 episodes that you saw on Nickelodeon were shortened versions of hour-long local CJOH shows, which was much more of a variety format with the live call-in segments and music videos. By 1982, when YCDTOTV began to be produced for Nickelodeon, the show followed much more closely with Whatever Turns You On's format.

Another thing about the 81 eps were that there were many occasions when somebody said "I Don't Know" and they never got slimed.

Can green slime be a different color?

It actually happened a lot more than you think in the other years as well. A while back, I started compiling a list of "missed opportunities" that would be listed somewhere near the stage pollution for each episode. If I can get some spare time, I might try to resume that project.

    Default Me TOO!

I've noticed a few, "missed opportunites," of slime dumping. I'm aboat ready to watch the series through again. I'll keep my eyes peeled. However, I would much rather enjoy going through a compilation of multiple missed opportunities.

I really enjoy the 1981 and especially the 1982 shows.

    Default They were good seasons

I enjoyed those seasons, too! I have yet to vote for my favorite year. That's from a poll on the home page. I just haven't decided yet.

1st: I am partial to Christine, Lisa, & Alasdair.

2nd: I liked Matthew Godfrey's Nerd character. He was YCDTOTV's Alex P. Keaton. That was a good cast, too.

3rd: I liked the season with Adam Reid. His inspector Klu So (I don't know the spelling) parody from Pink Pantherwas hilarious.

4th: Being able to watch the original episodes has brought me to like those just as well. However, I fast forward the dancing & interviews. The interviews would be okay once a week, I guess. But, the dancing was too much. The break dancing was okay, but other than that, they could just keep it, "Out of Sight." Yeah, out of my sight.
