  • Acting talent on YCDTOTV

Quick list everyone: who are the top 5 actors ever to appear on YCDTOTV?

I am looking for people's opinions on the kids...of course Les and Abby were amazing actors.

Let's get some good discussions going here that don't revolve around who got slimed most, or whether or not Roger Price liked long hair on boys. Who cares?!

    Jennifer Brackenbury.
    Amy Stanley.

    Honorable Mention: Chantal Tremblay.

Christine, Lisa and Alasdair were in a class by themselves. With Adam Reid just below them.
Robert A. Black, YCDTOTV writer 1985-86

Ah yes... very tricky, those Argentinians...

I would put Alasdair, Adam, Jennifer B, Christine, and Chris Bickford up there. Amy S was better than Jill. Matthew G & Kevin Shenck were good actors.

Not easy picking the best, actually. Lisa R had her moments, but I don't think she was among the best. I'd put Vanessa ahead of Lisa, to be honest.

Brodie O? Kevin Sommers? Stephanie Bauder? Hmmm....

It's a shame Jennifer B. couldn't make it to either of the SlimeCons... we don't even have a current picture, do we?

              1. Jonathan Gebert. Excellent screen presence and a very natural sense of humour.
              2. Christine. YCDTOTV's foundation.
              3. Matthew Godfrey.
              4. The new cast (aka 1989-90). Several of them were very good. I felt this group did a great job of keeping YCDTOTV sassy. As far as I'm concerned, YCDTOTV never "jumped the shark".
              5. OTTAWA!!! How did a sleepy little government town produce so many terrific actors for YCDTOTV? I was always amazed that the cast was so genuine and down-to-earth. There was absolutely none of that smarmy Hollywood phoniness.

Very hard to pick a top 5 overall, so I'll go with Top 5 by era.

Pre-Nickelodeon (1979, WTYO, 1981 season): Moose (of course), Sarah West, Kevin Schenk, Jono, Kevin Somers
Honorable mentions: Angie Coddett, Elizabeth Mitchell, Deidre McIsaac (why wasn't she used more?!), Tim Douglas

Glory era (1982-87): Moose, Alasdair, Matthew G., Adam R., Vanessa
Honorable mentions: Marjorie, Justin, Lisa, Brodie

"New" cast (1989-90): Christian, Jennifer, Stephanie B., Jill, Amy
Honorable mentions: Amyas, Chris, Kevin W., Carlos

This is a good list. Basically, if your name is 'Kevin' and you appeared on YCDTOTV, you were a good actor. Even Kubusheskie wasn't *that* bad.

I'm with you on Deidre McIsaac... she should have been a bigger part of YCDTOTV.

I thought Kubusheskie was quite good as well. Especially from 1982 onward. His reactions when getting slimed/watered were almost as good as Christine's at times (I love his facial expression during his slime scene in Addictions... he truly makes getting slimed look as terrible as it's supposed to be, and then there's that high-pitched gasp he lets out after being slimed in Growing Up).

Don't know how Carlos Braithwaite or Pat Mills got on that show they were really bad and it goes way past the I can't remember my name gimmick which got really stale. Best probably I think he spells it Alisdair and I would throw Doug in there the last 2 seasons Ted Wilson was really good.

I'm with you on Carlos, he had a tendency to over-act. But Nick Belcourt?! He was fantastic! I thought the fact that he always thought he was Ted (because of a mixup in rehearsal reading the wrong lines, I heard) was hilarious.

I also like Patrick. What's wrong with Patrick, he was hilarious in an effeminate way.

Watch the scene where old Pat tells les please don't take my father away from the episode Privileges awful. Nick Belcourt aka Carlos aka Ted was the master of overacting still say the dating episodes were awesome!
