Who taped the show?

Anybody here actually taped any episodes?

All I taped were Music, Enemies, and Parties in 1999... and Music and the half of Enemies in 2004. By the time I learned to record shows on tape, YCDTOTV was already off Nick's schedule. I would have taped a bunch. In 2000, I had to locate ALL the other 127 episodes. It took a long time.

i taped all alasdair & kevin k. episodes when i was a kid back in the 80s, but those tapes are long gone now.. i envy ppl who still have all their stuff from childhood..

I started recording on VHS in 1983. Prior to that I made audio cassettes like Rob, but those are LOOOOONG gone. I was so lame back then that I would record myself acting out all the skits on the other side of the tape. I actually had my version of Cosmetics until I about 1990. Like I said, LOOOONG gone!

I have a couple I taped when they showed it in 1999, but I don't even know where that tape is.

Slightly off-topic, but I promise I'll steer it back ..

Around 94 and 95 I had my mom's old Magnavox boom box out and I'd record all sorts of stuff on the tape, everything from commercial jingles to theme songs. In one weekend, I had taped the themes to the entire TGIF lineup, plus Nick's weekend fare, including Tomorrow People and U to U. Oh, plus the Double Dare theme. Then sometimes I'd go to our Hi-Fi stereo and make copies of the songs over and over, five or six times, before moving on to the next. I once had a 20-minute recording of nothing but the Law & Order theme looping over and over again.

Back to on-topic: Once I had a few episodes of YCDTOTV on video tape via the tape traders forum, I tried encoding the audio into RealAudio using my huge bulky gateway and a microphone. It barely worked, and I deleted the files after about an hour. Though for a few years during my scriptwriting phase I was actually recording my own pre-empts with a laugh track. "Rosie O'Donnell Gets Hooked on Coke... A-Cola," and "Whitney Houston: Back in the Habit" are two examples.

I recorded the 3 Nick birthday episodes in 1999, but I only had *1* originally recorded episode on tape prior to that (and it was from 1989, I believe). I had to acquire the rest through trades.

But as Ric said, I have a number of the original first-time airings on audio cassette, mostly 1984 and earlier and then a number of the 89's.

The problem is, back then, I used to tape EVERYTHING, so I have hundreds of tapes and have no idea what's on each one. A while back, I started going through some of them and writing down what was on each one, but it was way too time consuming, so I quit. Eventually, I would like to single out all the YCDTOTV episodes and convert them to DVD. I was hoping that they would be released on DVD before I had to go through all that trouble. Oh well.

I actually do have them all, but I never stop collecting. Hehe
