  • Did They Ever Refuse?

Did cast members ever refuse to get drenched/slimed? Or perhaps was there a rule that they HAD to do it, if they wanted to stay on the show?

I don't know if they ever refused

But they were paid $50 when they got slimed. Note that back in the 1980's that was a decent amount of cash, so the money probably was an incentive.

To put some perspective in 1985 the minimum wage rate in Ottawa, Ontario was $4 per hour. Most jobs for teens would only pay minimum wage, so that means 12.5 hours of work just to make $50.

Christine notoriously hated getting slimed, and by the time I was working on the show (1985), she had enough seniority to get out of it in most instances. Most of the kids just accepted it as part of the job, and as Count Floyd has already pointed out, they did get paid extra for it.

The slime sketch for "Wildlife and Animals" was something I threw together in a hurry after my original one bombed in the read-through. For various logistical reasons, Vanessa was the only person we could slime, and she was very upset because she liked the outfit she was wearing on the Link Set for that show and was afraid the slime would ruin it. Roger had to promise her that he'd replace it if the slime didn't wash out.

Sorry to hear that Christine didn't enjoy getting slimed. Did she at least not mind getting drenched?
By the way, Count Floyd, who is the person behind the green slime, in your avalter?

Was there any girl from the 89-90 season that did not want to get slimed or did not like getting slimed.

Do you mean to say that there were slime scenes actually written for her in the later years that she managed to put the kibosh on? I had long assumed that it was part of Christine's agreement to keep sticking around for her not to be the recipient of much more slapstick comedy, if any.

They were usually rewritten so that someone else got slimed or watered instead. Right off the top of my head, I remember there was one sketch in the "Revenge" episode that was like that. I'm sure there were others.

My question is why did some kids like Karen and Luke McKeehan were never slimed or watered and they were in multiple episodes? Were they just....lucky?

                  Pretty much, yeah.

I actually wrote a sketch for Marjorie in the "Revenge" episode, where she talks about the fact that she's never been slimed and the kids trick her into getting slimed so they can get revenge, but we never shot it.

well if they ever make an episode past Project 131, you know that has to be part of it. Not gonna happen most likely

I was sort of shocked when I heard that Marjorie was in Project 131 and that it didn't happen then... That would've been like Charlie Brown coming back one last time and finally being able to kick the football.

I'm sure Marjory was happy about that. Were the kids payed multiple times for multiple slimings? The famous multi-colored slime scene must've been really expensive in that case.

If I get $50 for getting slimed this instant (away from the computer) I'd do it, who wouldn't?
Can green slime be a different color?

                            Goodness gracious

Jakepeter11, you post the most ridiculous comments. It makes me laugh. I told you this was a comedic site.

I would get slimed if it served another purpose. I don't care for Dare type stuff, except for Double Dare (Mark Sommers would be a perfect US Slimecon HostSorry Mr Agent. I encoraged myself.) I wouldn't mind an extra $50 bucks, but for what, really?
"Multiple personality? They haven't got ANY personality on this show. Oh!"
